I had several injuries that held me back from competing in races and track meets. I wanted to compete in senior track competitions. This was a new direction for me. I wasn’t that fit, just a fast runner that needed direction. I was in my 80’s, so I didn’t really think about being coached and didn’t think any coach would be interested in working with someone my age. When I was being treated for a hamstring tear in 2017 my orthopedic surgeon from HSS who is an endurance athlete herself and knew that I wanted to compete in the NSGA Senior Olympics asked me if I had a coach, and I said I didn’t. She recommended (her) coach Steve. This was an opportunity to improve, get stronger and learn how to be efficient in my running. I never had a real coach, but quickly became addicted to the path of fitness and hard work and knowing why I am doing something. The main benefit in having Steve as a coach, is having a daily planned program with a different workout daily which is posted on Training Peaks and summarizes my data and results. I have improved enormously with Steve’s encouragement, guidance and have recently achieved a track world record and three national records in my age group. I couldn’t have done this without his help and guidance. I still have injuries which he helps me get through on occasion, weekly workout sessions guide my workouts for strength, agility as well as my recovery when needed. He is a great person, optimistic and available whenever I need help or advice. He even makes me a protein drink after our Thursday workout.

In 2022, I set out to achieve my longtime goal of running a sub-3 hour marathon at the Berlin Marathon and qualifying for Boston. While I possess a good fitness foundation and lead a healthy lifestyle, I understood that to achieve my goal I required a structured and wholistic training regime that was tailored to my work and family demands, a nutrition plan to further improve performance, and an accountability system to provide regular check-ins, feedback, support and recalibration. Coach Steve delivered and together we were able to complete a 2:59 marathon. Coach Steve brings decades of personal and professional experience in physical therapy and endurance sports, having worked with many high performing athletes. He possesses a wealth of knowledge on technique, nutrition, strength training, and injury prevention. He is a clear communicator who is accountable and responsive, sets well defined goals and expectations, and is unafraid to challenge his clients to bring the best out of them. Lastly, he understands and is able to continuously readjust the training plan around his clients’ need to balance multiple competing priorities including highly demanding professional careers (often involving travel and long hours) and family responsibilities.

First off, I didn’t know I wanted or needed a coach. After running a 4:20 marathon, in 2017 I was grateful to have finished, but frustrated that I did not achieve my goal of sub 4:00. That is where the coaching came in. The problems I needed to solve were several. Lack of belief that I could reach my fitness goals and lack of knowledge on how to reach them if the belief was there. HIs knowledge was clear; as was his experience. Great education. His personality traits that inspired me is his passion for what he is doing, and the work ethic he has to embody all of the traits that he is trying to instill in me. I love that he is direct in his communication. I need black and white in my life from a coach and with Steve, it is pretty simple. “If you do what I tell you to do, you will achieve your goals. When you negotiate with me, you are hindering your ability to achieve them. It's up to you!” Steve has provided so much structure and confidence that if I do what he tells me to do, I will achieve my goals. He makes me take an honest look at myself, and that inspires me to stay on the path that I said that I wanted. He really cares about me and encourages me, and yet, he can have a professional detachment, which actually draws me in more.

Before working with Steve at Eat|Lift|Endure, I felt stuck. I had completed several marathons but couldn’t seem to break through my plateau. My training lacked structure, my nutrition and recovery weren’t optimized, and I struggled to find time to train effectively with a demanding work schedule. I didn’t realize how much I was missing until I met Steve.
A colleague who had worked with Steve for years introduced us, and I was immediately impressed by his holistic approach. Steve didn’t just hand me a generic training plan; he tailored everything to my needs, goals, and lifestyle. From adjusting sessions around my unpredictable schedule to helping me bounce back from minor injuries, Steve’s adaptability was incredible.
The results speak for themselves. Over five years, I went from finishing marathons at 4:22 to an incredible 3:37. I lost about 10% of my body weight, became healthier overall, and felt more energized—not just during races but in my everyday life.
Beyond the numbers, Steve’s encouragement kept me going during tough times. His race day strategies were game-changers, giving me the focus and confidence I needed to push through challenging moments. Thanks to Steve, I’ve not only become a better runner but also a more disciplined, healthier version of myself.
If you’re ready to transform your training and performance, I can’t recommend Steve and Eat|Lift|Endure enough.

Coach Steve was recommended to me by my neurosurgeon after I suffered a severe neck disc herniation. I had lost strength in my left arm, was unable to do a push up, and my overall fitness had deteriorated.
In my first session with Coach Steve, it was obvious that he was extremely knowledgeable about my injury and the steps necessary for recovery and injury prevention.
Coach Steve had a whole body, mind, and life approach to working with me. We discussed how my sleep, nutrition, working environment, and fitness were all part of the puzzle to my recovery and improving my fitness.
I have worked with Steve for almost three years now. I am fully recovered from my neck injury and have regained my strength and coordination. Most importantly, Coach Steve has brought my overall health and fitness to a higher level, ensuring better health and athletic performance for me now and in future years.

After almost 30 years of working with other trainers, I chose to work with Coach Steve to raise the level of professionalism of my training experience.
Steve is the most highly educated, committed and informed trainer I have worked with. He modifies our workouts to keep me challenged and to make sure they do not become routine. He pushes me while carefully correcting my positioning and movement as necessary to balance progress with safety.
If I have any physical limitation, Steve is absolutely mindful not to exacerbate it and to work around it. I see a marked difference in my physique, strength and balance, with gains far in excess of the results from all of my prior trainers.
His workouts fly by, as the experience is both enjoyable and rewarding. Steve is 100% dependable and a pleasure to work with in every way.
